New Horizons Academy works to align individualized instruction and specialized interventions with the goals established in each student's IEP, recognizing that every objective represents an opportunity to strengthen abilities, develop new skills, and encourage greater independence.

Depending on each student's individual needs and educational plan, intervention services may include:

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Individualized, evidence-based strategies may help students develop communication, learning, social, adaptive, and behavioral skills. Instructional approaches can be tailored to encourage meaningful skill development and support positive participation in educational and everyday environments.

Conductive Education (CE)

Conductive Education incorporates active learning, purposeful movement, and the development of functional skills to encourage greater participation and independence. Through structured activities and meaningful practice, students work toward improving their ability to engage with their environment and daily routines.

Occupational Therapy (OT)

Occupational Therapy supports the development of functional abilities that contribute to participation in school and everyday life. Areas of focus may include fine motor coordination, visual-motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and other practical skills related to a student's individual needs.

Speech-Language Services

Communication is essential to learning, building relationships, expressing needs, and participating in everyday activities. Speech-language services may address receptive and expressive language, speech production, social communication, and alternative or augmentative communication methods.

By incorporating appropriate interventions into meaningful educational experiences, we strive to help students practice developing skills in the environments and activities where those skills matter most.

Rather than viewing specialized services as isolated experiences, our goal is to encourage consistency and coordination between interventions, classroom instruction, and everyday learning opportunities.

One of the greatest challenges students with special learning and developmental needs may face in traditional educational settings is receiving the individualized attention necessary to address their unique learning styles and developmental goals.

At New Horizons Academy, we recognize that some students require additional instruction, more frequent intervention, repeated opportunities for practice, or greater assistance with classroom participation.

Our educational model emphasizes a high level of individualized support, including a 1:2 staff-to-student ratio, to create opportunities for meaningful instruction and engagement.
